All-Clad D3 41126 vs Made In 12-Inch: lid, weight and usable surface
Both are uncoated clad stainless steel. The real decision is an included lid and classic D3 package versus a lighter pan with a published 9.5-inch cooking surface.
Choose the All-Clad D3 41126 when you want the lid included, a classic tri-ply platform and a 600°F ceiling that already covers normal home use. Choose Made In COOK-12-FRY-ISS when its 3-pound pan, published 9.5-inch flat surface and hollow handle matter more than buying a lid separately.

Ownership friction
The details that survive checkout.
Price the lid, not just the pan
The D3 offer includes a fitted stainless lid. Made In sells its lid separately, so a pan-only comparison understates the cost of an otherwise similar covered workflow.
The weight blocks are not apples to apples
All-Clad's 4.74-pound figure covers the pan-and-lid product; Made In publishes 3 pounds for the pan. Do not treat the 1.74-pound gap as a measured pan-to-pan difference.
Layer count is not a verdict
Five-ply and tri-ply describe construction, not automatic cooking rank. Heat response, geometry, thickness, handle leverage and the actual burner still shape the experience.
Stainless steel has a learning curve
Neither surface is naturally nonstick. Preheat moderately, add oil after the pan is ready, let protein release before turning, and deglaze while residue is still warm.
Usable area beats the label
Made In publishes 9.5 inches of flat surface. All-Clad does not publish the comparable number, so a 12-inch label alone cannot establish which fits more food in one layer.
Evidence limits
Conflicts and caveats we will not hide.
D3 identity is matched by UPC
All-Clad's page calls the product 41126. Amazon uses 11644901318, but both publish UPC 011644901318 and the same D3 12-inch pan-with-lid configuration.
Independent testing does not produce one universal winner
Bon Appétit's 2026 test selected All-Clad D3; Food Network selected Made In. Add or Pass uses those results as independent context and resolves the ownership differences instead of inventing its own lab score.
How this guide was made
Source-checked, not fake-tested.
Add or Pass compared official manufacturer material for both models and translated the differences into buyer consequences. These are the sources this guide was built from.
