Auto-Empty Cordless Stick-Vacuum Stations: Less Dust or More Dock?
Three exact cordless systems compared by dock format, debris handling, claimed runtime, floor tools, footprint and recurring parts.

Add Shark IP3251 when a bagless dock and broad floor sensing fit the household. Add Roborock H60 Hub Ultra when a sealed bag is worth a recurring consumable. Add LG A949KTMS when dual batteries, mopping tools and a storage tower justify the largest system. Pass if you still empty after every use, lack a permanent dock location or prefer a lighter vacuum without a station.
The buyer question
Will an auto-empty dock remove a real cleaning bottleneck, or merely move the dust, filter and storage work into a larger station?
An auto-empty station changes where debris is handled; it does not eliminate dust-bin, filter, brush-roll or battery maintenance. The useful comparison is the complete system, not the handheld vacuum by itself.
Runtime figures are manufacturer claims under selected settings. Shark's longest claim is for hand-vacuum use in ECO mode, so it should not be read as full-floor runtime with a powered nozzle.
How to decide
The evidence the category has to earn.
Choose bagless or sealed bag
A bagless dock avoids bag purchases but still exposes a larger bin during emptying. A sealed bag contains disposal better but creates a model-specific recurring cost.
Measure the complete station
Reserve floor width, depth, outlet access and enough overhead to remove the vacuum and service the dock. A cordless machine can still become fixed furniture.
Normalize runtime claims
Compare the mode, attachment and battery count behind every number. Maximum hand-vacuum runtime is not a prediction for carpet cleaning.
Audit replacement parts
Confirm batteries, filters, dock bags, brush rolls and optional odor cartridges before treating the station as a long-term convenience purchase.
The research shortlist
3 candidates, each with a reason to add—or pass.

Shark PowerDetect Clean & Empty
IP3251The exact IP3251 pairs a bagless auto-empty base with floor and edge sensing, a flexible wand and a five-year limited warranty.
Add this if
- Avoiding dock bags matters more than the cleanest sealed disposal.
- The complete 18.5-inch-wide system has a permanent outlet location.
Pass if
- You read the 70-minute hand-vacuum claim as powered-floor runtime.
- Emptying the larger bagless dock will still trigger the same dust concern.

Roborock H60 Hub Ultra
H60 Hub UltraA compact upright dock pulls debris into a sealed bag and stores the included tools, while the exact H60 vacuum uses washable filters.
Add this if
- A sealed disposal path is worth buying proprietary bags.
- The published 848-mm dock height fits the chosen location.
Pass if
- You want a verified bag supply and ownership price before committing.
- A full independent test of your floor mix matters more than peak suction claims.

LG CordZero All-in-One
A949KTMSLG combines auto-empty storage, two batteries, a floor nozzle and Power Mop Pro in the broadest accessory system of the three.
Add this if
- Dual batteries and integrated tool storage replace separate equipment.
- You will use the mop system enough to maintain its pads and water workflow.
Pass if
- The tower footprint and larger accessory set add clutter.
- Bags, filters and a premium bundle solve problems you do not have.
Ownership friction
The details that survive checkout.
The dock concentrates maintenance
The small bin empties automatically, but the station still needs its bin or bag changed and its air path, seals and filters checked.
Batteries remain wear parts
A charging dock improves readiness, not battery permanence. Verify the exact replacement pack and warranty path.
Tools only help when they stay accessible
Count which attachments live on the dock and which need a separate closet. A large bundle can recreate the storage problem it promises to solve.
Stop before servicing moving parts
Power the system down and remove or isolate the battery as the exact manual instructs before clearing a brush roll, air path or dock blockage. Never reach into a running floor head.
