Draw the basin and discharge

Price the complete power path

Test under realistic conditions
Use the manufacturer procedure to confirm the backup takes over, the alarm works and water actually exits the discharge—not only that the motor runs.
The battery is a maintenance item
Record battery type, installation date, test results, terminals, electrolyte instructions where applicable and replacement criteria.
Keep the discharge observable
Inspect check valves, joints and the exterior outlet after storms and freeze events. A running pump cannot protect through a blocked or failed discharge.
A backup pump is not a dry-basement guarantee
