Wire-Free Robot Lawn Mowers: Map First, Mow Second
Three exact mowers compared by navigation method, realistic lawn capacity, slope claim, setup hardware, connectivity and safety limits.

Add Segway Navimow i210 AWD for a quarter-acre lawn when network RTK, vision and all-wheel drive match the terrain. Add eufy E15 for a small, visually legible lawn when antenna-free vision simplicity matters most. Add Husqvarna 410 iQ when the EPOS reference-station system, dealer ecosystem and higher systematic capacity justify the installation. Pass if drop-offs, public edges, pets, wildlife or complex signal blockage cannot be managed safely.
The buyer question
Can the mower reliably localize around your trees, walls, slopes and narrow passages without a perimeter wire—and what happens when its signal or vision becomes uncertain?
Wire-free means the working boundary is stored digitally; it does not mean setup-free. The mower still needs a stable charging location, a carefully driven map and repeatable localization across the entire lawn.
Capacity claims depend on layout and mowing pattern. Husqvarna, for example, publishes different systematic and irregular-pattern areas, which is more useful than treating one acreage number as universal.
How to decide
The evidence the category has to earn.
Map the failure zones
List dense tree cover, walls, roof overhangs, narrow corridors, reflective glass, steep transitions, drop-offs and public sidewalks before choosing RTK, network correction or vision-only navigation.
Size below the headline capacity
Complex boundaries, separated zones, slopes and recovery trips reduce practical throughput. Leave margin instead of buying at the advertised limit.
Price the complete localization system
Confirm whether an antenna, reference station, cellular service or subscription is included and what happens after any included connectivity period.
Plan a supervised commissioning period
Observe multiple full cycles in daylight and varied conditions before allowing an autonomous schedule. A saved map is not proof that every edge is safe.
The research shortlist
3 candidates, each with a reason to add—or pass.

Segway Navimow i210 AWD
i210 AWDThe exact quarter-acre i210 AWD combines network RTK and vision with all-wheel drive, zero-turn steering and a published 45-percent slope claim.
Add this if
- The lawn is within the quarter-acre class and network correction is reliable at the property.
- Traction and tight steering solve real slopes or narrow turns.
Pass if
- You cannot verify the post-included-period 4G cost or localization coverage.
- The boundary includes unprotected drop-offs, traffic or other high-consequence edges.

eufy Robot Lawn Mower E15
T2880The exact E15 uses vision-only mapping for up to 0.2 acre, with one map and one base station and no boundary wire or RTK antenna.
Add this if
- The lawn is small, visually distinct and below the published slope limit.
- Avoiding an antenna is more important than RTK-style correction.
Pass if
- Multiple independent maps or bases are required.
- The site has visually ambiguous edges, heavy occlusion or slopes near the limit.

Husqvarna Automower 410 iQ
970727401Husqvarna's exact 410 iQ includes EPOS hardware and publishes separate half-acre systematic and quarter-acre irregular capacities.
Add this if
- The included reference station can be placed with the required sky view.
- Dealer support and a four-year warranty justify the larger system.
Pass if
- The lot cannot support reliable EPOS reference-station placement.
- The systematic-capacity headline is being applied to a complex irregular lawn.
Ownership friction
The details that survive checkout.
Blades are recurring service parts
Small pivoting blades need inspection and exact replacements. Cutting quality and safety both depend on keeping the approved blade system intact.
Maps need landscape-change discipline
Construction, new edging, seasonal objects, fallen branches and moved play equipment can invalidate a route that worked last week.
Connectivity is part of ownership
Record the app account, transfer process, cellular terms, theft-tracking limits and offline behavior before treating autonomy as permanent.
Obstacle detection is not a child, pet or wildlife guarantee
Keep people and animals out of the mowing area, inspect the lawn first, supervise initial routes and follow the exact stop, lift and blade-service procedures. Voluntary mower standards are a baseline, not permission to ignore the site.
